JK sends condolences after house fire kills six family members in Dar

The shocking incident occurred late Saturday night when a fire
broke out in their home at the Kipunguni ‘A’ area of Ilala District in
Dar es Salaam.
According to a statement from the Directorate of Presidential
Communications, President Kikwete said expressed sadness and shocked
upon learning of the incident.
“I am shocked by the news on the death of six family members caused by a fire,” the president said in his message.
“For sure it is very sad …I take this opportunity to send my deep
condolences to the RC, relatives, friends and Ukonga residents during
this mourning period,” the president said.
The President also sent condolences to other family members,
relatives and friends who have lost their loved ones in the incident,
saying:
“It’s my hope that government authorities will thoroughly investigate the cause of the accident.”
On Saturday night, fire broke out at a house in Kipunguni A area,
Ilala District, Dar es Salaam killing six members of the same family,
including two children.
The incident was confirmed by the IIala Regional Police
Commissioner, Marry Nzuki. She named the victims as retired Army Captain
David Mpira (60), the house owner and his wife, Celina Yegela (50).
Others were: Lucas Mpira (20), son of Captain Mpira and Samweli Yegela (30), a brother to Celina Yegela.
The children who died in the incident were Celina Emanuel (9) and
Paulina Emmanuel (5), respectively grandchild to Captain Mpira and
daughter of the only survivor in the incident Emmanuel Mpira.
The captain is survived by a son, Emanuel, who was outside the house when the fire broke out.
