Dar es Salaam. The government
yesterday announced a major reshuffle in the district commissioners’
line-up in an apparent move to fill vacant posts ahead of the October
General Election.
In the reshuffle, President Jakaya Kikwete has
appointed 27 new DCs to fill vacant posts, dropped 19 and transferred 64
others. Some 42 have retained their posts.
Announcing the reshuffle in Dodoma, Prime Minister
Mizengo Pinda told journalists that the new DCs had been appointed to
fill the vacancies left by those who died, shifted or promoted.
“There were 27 vacant posts after some of them
reached retirement age, some were promoted and others were shifted [to
other duty stations],” he said.
An outspoken CCM young member, Mr Paul Makonda,
and the ruling party’s youth wing (UVCCM) national vice chairperson, Ms
Mboni Mhita, are among notable new comers in the list of DCs.
A prominent Tanzania Broadcasting Corporation
(TBC) announcer and journalist, Mr Shaaban Kissu, former regional police
commander Zelothe Stephen and former Tanzania Football Federation (TFF)
secretary general Frederick Mwakalebela, have also been appointed as
new DCs.
Their respective work stations are Kinondoni for
Mr Makonda, while Ms Mhita will serve in Mufindi. Others are, Mr Kissu
(Kondoa), Stephen (Musoma) and Mwakalebela (Wanging’ombe).
The list of other new DCs is made up of Mr
Ramadhani Mtima (Ruangwa), Dr Jasmine Tiisike (Mpwapwa), Pololeti Mgema
(Nachingwea), Mr Fadhili Nkurlu (Misenyi) and Mr Felix Jackson Lyaniva
(Rorya).
Others are, Ms Zainab Rajab Mbussi (Rungwe), Mr
Francis Mwonga (Bahi), Col Kimiang’ombe Samwel Nzoka (Kiteto), Ms Husna
Rajab Msangi (Handeni), Mr Emmanuel Uhaula (Tandahimba), Mr Hashim
Mgandilwa (Ngorongoro), Ms Mariam Juma (Lushoto), Thea Medard Ntara
(Kyela) and Mr Ahmad Nammohe (Mbozi).
The list also includes, Ms Pili Moshi (Kwimba), Mr
Mahmoud Kambona (Simanjiro), Glorius Luoga (Tarime), Mr Zainab Telack
(Sengerema), Mr Bernard Nduta (Masasi), Ms Zuhura Mustafa Ally (Uyui),
Ms Mwajuma Nyiruka (Misungwi) and Mr Maftah Ally Mohamed (Serengeti).
The reshuffle also saw 12 DCs dropped from the public serve due to old
age, sickness and other reasons which were not made public by the
premier.
They include, Ms Martha Umbulla, who was serving
in clash ravaged Kiteto District, and Danhi Makianga, who was in Kasulu,
where some politicians recently accused him of allowing pastoralists to
settle in reserved forests, leading to clashed between them and
farmers.
There are also seven DCs who have been removed
from their posts, but they will be assigned other duties, according to
Mr Pinda. He named them as, Brig. Gen. Cosmas Kayombo, who was serving
in Simanjiro, Col. Ngemela Lubinga (Mlele), Mr Juma Madaha (Ludewa), Ms
Mercy Silla (Mkuranga), Mr Ahmed Kipozi (Bagamoyo), Mr Mrisho Gambo
(Korogwe) and Mr Elinas Pallangyo (Rombo).
