Forest Whitaker in Nairobi
By Faith Chebet @chebetkorirHollywood actor and Unesco Special Envoy for Peace and Reconciliation Forest Whitaker addressed a news conference in Nairobi on Monday on the humanitarian crisis in South Sudan.
On Sunday, the renowned actor took to his Twitter page to announce that he would be jetting into the country for the high-level summit.
He also posted this on his Twitter page a few hours after the summit: A positive #peace entails not only absence of child soldiers but the presence of education and reintegration programs @childreninwar @UNICEF Whitker has earned a reputation for intensive character study work for films such as Lee Daniels’ The Butler.
He won an Academy Award for his performance as Ugandan dictator Idi Amin in the 2006 film The Last King of Scotland. He has also won a Golden Globe, and a BAFTA becoming the fourth African American male to win an Academy Award for Best Actor.
