Coastal Union halt tired Simba

Dar es Salaam giants Simba failed to show any new vigour after a goalless draw when they faced Coastal Union at Mkwakwani Stadium yesterday.

The Msimbazi-based side who are number two in historical championship in the premier league have now accumulated 17 points from 13 matches while Coastal Union have piled up 18 points.

Simba lost four credible chances in the first 30 minutes created by Ugandan midfielder Simon Sserunkuma to Emmanuel Okwi who lost two, while Abdi Banda and Elias Maguri lost one chance each.

Coastal Union lost one chance in the first 15 minutes and another in the 15th minute of the second half through Joseph Mahundi and Rama Salim, respectively. Their shots were saved by Simba goalie Ivo Mapunda.
The 1988 league champions were in control of the game all second half as Simba looked tired but still host side failed to score.

Meanwhile, Young Africans (Yanga) will be seeking revenge as they play Mtibwa Sugar in a Mainland Premier League match at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam today.

The sugar men defeated Yanga 2-0 in the first leg match played on September 20 last year at the Jamhuri Stadium in Morogoro.

Yanga defeated Coastal Union 1-0 in an way game played at the Mkwakwani Stadium in Tanga.

The team’s captain Nadir Haroub 'Cannavaro' said they have prepared well to obtain their revenge, indicating that they aim at playing total football.

However, the going may not be easy for the Jangwani Street side considering that they are likely to miss the services of two key players.

The team’s physician Juma Sufiani says that Amissi Tambwe and Mbuyu Twite are yet to be fit as they are still nursing injuries.

Mtibwa coach Mecky Mexime said mildly that only 90 minutes will tell.
Second-placed Yanga currently have 22 points while Mtibwa Sugar have 18.
